Senior Mechanical Engineer

About Us:

We are dedicated to delivering the future of healthcare and expanding access by creating revolutionary non-invasive diagnostic technologies. Medicine is ready for huge breakthroughs, yet the burden of some essential tasks, like vital sign monitoring, hinders efficiency. We aim to free clinicians and patients from the limitations of outdated technology.

The Role:

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a critical role in the design and development of our next-gen diagnostic devices. You’ll work directly with cross-functional teams to miniaturize our breakthrough ultrasound technology and develop the first-ever commercial product of its kind. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of healthcare by creating cutting-edge devices that have never been seen before.

You’ll join a highly talented team from world-class organizations like SpaceX, NASA, and Caltech, where you’ll not only design innovative products but also play an instrumental role in bringing them to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prototype to Product: Collaborate with our electrical engineering team to transform our proven blood pressure measurement prototype into a compact, market-ready device.
  • Ultrasound Technology Design: Develop new ultrasound transducer form factors and housings, employing novel approaches to enhance performance.
  • Product Design Leadership: Lead the design of our first commercial product, managing the transition from whiteboard concepts to manufacturing-ready models.
  • Collaboration & Innovation: Work closely with business development and engineering to bring our vision to life, iterating rapidly to adapt to new challenges and insights.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years in mechanical engineering, ideally in roles with Senior, Staff, or Lead responsibilities.
  • Full Development Cycle: Proven ability to guide programs from conceptualization through prototype to market launch.
  • Expertise in DFM & FDA Clearance: Familiarity with design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles and experience with the FDA 510k clearance process, particularly for diagnostic products.
  • Cross-Functional Development: Skilled at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop system, component, and product-level requirements.
  • Innovative Mindset: A drive to push boundaries, with a readiness to solve challenges in areas where industry standards are still evolving.
  • Leadership Ambition: Desire to start and lead a team, leveraging your vision to execute and innovate.

Preferred Skills:

  • Software Proficiency: SolidWorks, COMSOL, or similar simulation tools for modal vibration and static strain analysis.
  • Specialized Expertise: Experience with ultrasound transducers (PZT crystals, PMUTs) and acoustic lensing.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Familiarity with 3D printing, CNC programming, and other hands-on prototyping techniques.
  • Enclosure & Form Factor Design: Expertise in designing compact electronics enclosures, with experience in wearable or portable device design.
  • Facility Planning: Background in planning and building out production facilities is a plus.

Location & Work Environmnet:

  • Flexible, Los Angeles-based: This role offers a flexible, hybrid work arrangement, with approximately 50% work-from-home flexibility. As hardware development is hands-on, you’ll need to be based locally and able to attend on-site sessions in Los Angeles as needed for testing, debugging, and team collaboration.

Join us in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in clinical diagnostics and healthcare. Apply today to bring your expertise to a team where innovation, growth, and opportunity are the foundation for everything we do.
